Go Ape, Rivington, nr Bolton.
Go Ape is one of the most enjoyable days out in the UK and the venue at Rivington Reservoir is no exception; and it’s easily accessible from Manchester by minibus. You will monkey about in the trees and enjoy a 200 metre long zip wire over the edge of the reservoir! The tree top high ropes crossing may sound a little scary – but once you are up there you will see some of the most beautiful views over Lancashire that you just would not see from the ground. Of course it’s not all about views – Go Ape is about adrenaline and having lots of fun. It is quite physical but most people of reasonable fitness levels can take part as long as they are over 10 years old and 1.4 metres in height. There are 29 Go Ape locations across the country, but with the local woodland bustling with wildlife and Rivington known locally as a mini Lake District, this is one of the very best.
The classic Go Ape experience consists of the Tree Top Adventure which takes around 2-3 hours (but you are free to go at your own pace whether that be fast or slow). You will receive a safety briefing first and guidance on how to use your safety harness etc. Then you’re off – to enjoy the great outdoors, taking in the fresh air, green forest and gorgeous scenery. Along the course there are various tree top high wires, ‘awkward’ crossings – using bridges, wooden tunnels, ropes and ladders – and of course the really exciting zip wires!!
Visit In A Group
Go Ape is the ideal place to bring a group (big or small) and as such welcomes secondary school / college groups, stag and hen parties and corporate clients. Go Ape can cater for corporate groups of up to 280 – so it really is the ideal place for getting away from the office and team bonding. As well as the full Go Ape Tree Top experience, corporate groups can also enjoy conference facilities and refreshments – choose from a forest BBQ or a packed picnic lunch!
Because Go Ape is located at some of the most beautiful sites in the UK, it is vital that the local habitat is respected as much as possible. Go Ape have ensured that all of the equipment and courses do not cause any damage to the trees and wildlife; and all trees are inspected annually to ensure they are healthy.
