Hire A Minibus To Take You Shopping.

Shopping in ManchesterIf you enjoy shopping then you will have to go a long way to beat the vibrant and varied array of stores and malls that Manchester has to offer. Why not book yourself a minibus to take you around. As well as all of the usual high street names and designer labels there are also many bespoke and unique little stores that you just won’t find anywhere else. While the majority of retail business takes place in the city centre itself, there is of course also lots of out of town therapy to be found at the famous Trafford Centre. Manchester’s retail industry is the fourth largest in the country, so is vital to the city’s economy and population.

The Manchester Arndale on Market Street is the largest city centre shopping mall in the UK and the sixth largest shopping centre in the country. The centre opened in 1975 and comprises of 148,600 square metres of floor space – shopping heaven! It is home to familiar faces such as BHS, Argos, Superdrug, Topshop, Next, Waterstones and Disney – to name but a few, so a great option for a rainy Saturday with the family! Something that you may not be aware of at the Arndale is the free ‘Style Advisor’ service – one of the advisors will give you a free consultation which involves an assessment of your body shape and lifestyle. They will then advise you on outfits that will best suit you – and because they work across the whole centre you will not be restricted to one store – perfect if you are short on time and inspiration!

However, if you are the creative, independently minded type, you may want to head over to the Northern Quarter. The NQ is renowned for being bohemian and has lots of independent, ‘one off’ fashion stores, cafes, record shops and bars – as well as the wonderful emporium that is Afflecks, an exciting indoor market jam packed full of independent stalls, boutiques and small shops under one roof. If you want to hunt for a unique and hand tailored piece of clothing then Retro Rehab may have what you’re looking for – this vintage clothing boutique promises you will leave with an outfit that nobody else will have!

Over on the western side of the city, you will find Spinningfields – and you may need your credit card for this district as it is home to the designer names such as Mulberry, Armani, Calvin Klein and Ted Baker. If that’s not enough, head over to King Street where most of the buildings are converted banks – now home to names such as Hugo Boss, Ralph Lauren, Diesel and Tommy Hilfiger.

Go A little out of Manchester

Once you have exhausted all that the city centre has to offer, you really must visit the Trafford Centre. The centre is located 4 miles from the city and attracts around 35 million visitors per year. The architecture of the centre is beautiful and decadent – not your average mall by any means. As well as over 200 shops on 4 floors, the centre is home to Europe’s largest food court (The Orient), a 20 screen Odeon cinema, bowling and dodgems.
