Airkix Indoor Skydiving

AirkixLooking for something really out of the ordinary to do? How about experiencing what it’s really like to fly in a safe environment? Then why not pay Airkix a visit and experience their special wind tunnels for yourself! Located right next to the Chill Factore indoor ski slope and opposite the Trafford Centre, you couldn’t find a better location for a fun filled day out with the kids or friends.

The concept of ‘flying indoors’ was first attempted by the US army year 1964. In 1982 two wind tunnels opened the states, followed by the SkyVenture tunnel in Florida. Airkix Manchester is the second tunnel to be made by SkyVenture in Europe!

How Does it Work?

Airkix is very simply and is perfectly safe. Air circulates into the 20m high flight chamber. You stand in the doorway lean forward. As you take on the horizontal flying position your legs will be lifted from under you! The tunnel reaches a maximum wind speed of 180mph, but your instructor will teach you everything you need to know including the movements to go up, down, forward and backwards!

Airkix is a great venue for a special occasion and they welcome school parties (where the fun is combined with a physics lesson) and Stag and Hen groups. Groups of 6 or more (whatever the occasion) will receive a free DVD of all participant’s flights and a reduced ticket price.
Airkix is also a great venue for corporate events as there are only 3 of these venues in the country – so it’s sure to impress clients and colleagues alike. Airkix Manchester offers various packages, including flight time for all guests and a conference room suitable for up to 20 people. Food and drink can also be provided; and the venue is fully licensed.

Chill Factore

If all of that excitement leaves you wanting another adrenaline rush, then why not head next door to the Chill Factore – the UK’s longest indoor skiing and snowboarding slope! The real snow slope is an amazing 180m long – so you’ll find it hard to believe you are still in the middle of Manchester.
As well as skiing & snowboarding, there is also a Snow Play Area for the little ones, perfect for snowballing and snow angels! For the more daring there is Extreme Snow – this involves ‘airboarding’ which is body boarding on real snow – and Avalanche, the world’s first snow sphering experience, which involves hurtling down the ski slope at 30mph in a large snow sphere!

On the doorstep of Manchester its one of the must have a go events if your here for the weekend. We have been supplying minibuses to this area since it opened and our 16 seaters are only £40 each way so there is no excuse not to go.
